Relief as Senator installs internet facility for Kwara NUJ

The internet facility provided by the Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Mallam Saliu Mustapha, for the use of Kwara State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has been installed and activated.

The installation of the facility, which commenced last week, was completed with its activation on Wednesday, thus paving way for members of the union to be connected to wireless internet service seamlessly.

This medium reports that the facility is subscribed for a year, courtesy of the legislator.

Many members of the state council of NUJ have started having access to the facility through their mobile telephones.

Speaking on the development, the state Chairman of NUJ, Abdullateef ‘Lanre Ahmed, said the installation and activation of the internet WiFi service was a relief to members of the union.

He noted that the need to stay connected on internet has become imperative for journalists to get acquainted with breaking news for onward dissemination to the public.

Ahmed appreciated the Kwara Central legislator for taking interest in the progress of the council through his numerous programmes and intervention.

It is recalled that Senator Mustapha, who is also the Turaki of Ilorin, had during an interactive session with Journalists in Ilorin last Month, announced his plan to procure and install internet facility on Press Centre of Kwara NUJ to ease the operation of members of the pen fraternity.

Mustapha, who chaired Senate Committee on Agricultural Production and Rural Services, said the installation of the internet facilities at NUJ Press Centre would assist journalists in filing their stories in earnest and with ease.

The Senator noted that the gesture was aimed at ensuring that practitioners in the media industry ply their trade in a conducive environment and minimize their expenses on internet subscription.

Mustapha pledged to always be of assistance to the Council whenever the need arises.
