NYSC AND SMEDAN TO FUEL PARTNERSHIP FOR CORPS EMPOWERMENT

NYSC AND SMEDAN TO FUEL PARTNERSHIP FOR CORPS EMPOWERMENT According to the National Youth Service Corps, it will keep bolstering its current partnership with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) in order to foster an environment that will support the expansion of small and medium-sized businesses in the nation for more Corps Members.

Brigadier General YD Ahmed, Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, stated this today while hosting SMEDAN’s Director General, Mr Charles Odii, who paid him an advocacy visit at the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters in Abuja.

According to the NYSC Director General, the Scheme will continue to encourage Corps Members to develop their talents and skills in order to empower themselves.

Ahmed, who praised SMEDAN for its efforts to help small and medium-sized businesses overcome poor infrastructure in business operations management and access to financial services, described Corps Members as versatile youths with high potential who should be assisted in developing themselves.

“We will get things started, and we want to assure you that we will provide you with all of the assistance you require to benefit Nigerian youths,” the DG stated.

Earlier, SMEDAN DG Mr Charles Odii stated that a stronger partnership with the NYSC is required to support the Federal Government’s efforts to create jobs and empower youth.

He went on to say that school leavers should be taught how to look inward in their communities in order to create jobs and start small businesses that will help grow the national economy.

“We are here to renew our partnership with NYSC and revamp the SAED programme to make it more profitable,” the SMEDAN DG stated.
