… but died of auto crash

The Management of National Youth Service Corps has rejected the authenticity of the story trending on the social media space that a Corps Member was killed by bandits on his way from Kaduna to Katsina for the monthly biometric clearance.

According to a statement released by the Scheme signed by the Director Press and Public Relations of NYSC, Mr. Eddy Megwa, the story is untrue, but a figment of the baseless imagination of the mischievous writer, who wanted to cause unnecessary unrest among members of the public.

NYSC further put the record straight, Corps Member Mamudo Sa’idu Obaje KT/23B/1153, who was serving at Government Girls’ College, Katsina, was on transit from Kaduna to Katsina on Thursday 4th January, 2024 and was involved in a motor accident at Gayaza in Kankia LGA of Katsina State alongside other passengers. Unfortunately, two of the passengers, including the Corps Member lost their lives in the autocrash.While the NYSC family nationwide has been thrown into mourning from this tragic event, Management has also commiserated with the family of the deceased Corps Member over the loss of the gallant patriot who died while in active service to his fatherland.

NYSC wish to once again call on bloggers to always be factual in their reportage in order not to cause unnecessary apprehension in the society, because of fictitious and unprofessional publications, which contradicts the ethics of good journalism.Eddy Megwa fniprDirector, Press and Public Relations
