NYG 2024: NATIONAL ANTI DOPING COMMITTEEEDUCATES YOUNG ATHLETES

The 8th National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State, are currently underway. The National Anti Doping Committee, which places a high priority on teaching athletes the value of fair and clean competition with zero tolerance for doping violations, has organized a training session for young athletes.

Since some athletes’ positive drug test results were the result of ignorance, Nigerian sports has had to endure the painful scars of anti-doping over time. As a result, it is important to inform athletes early in their athletic careers.

As these young athletes progress in their sporting careers, education equips them with critical anti-doping knowledge, according to Ms. Fadeke Fadeyibi, Chief Executive Officer of the National Anti-Doping Committee and project manager.

She reaffirmed that by receiving anti-doping education, athletes are equipped to fend off harmful influences, make wise decisions, and decide for themselves not to use drugs. They can then confidently tell their coaches and sports officials of their stance.

The highlight of the event was the Q&A session, during which Miss Jennifer Ehiozibue, a 14-year-old Delta State karate athlete, listed and clarified all anti-doping regulations and infractions. She was awarded best candidate of the day and received a handsome reward.
