Nigeria, Ghana, others had a decline in data and Voice services due to Cable Cut Undersea along African West Coast – NCC

According to a statement recently released by the Nigerian Communications Commission NCC, It was reported that many West African countries, including Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, and Cote d’Ivoire, have experienced a decline in data and fixed telecom services due to a combination of cable cuts that have caused equipment problems on the main undersea cables along the coast.

There was an interruption in Portugal as a result of the cuts, which happened somewhere in Senegal and Cote d’Ivoire.

While SAT3 and MainOne are unavailable, cable companies West African Cable System (WACS) and African Coast to Europe (ACE) have encountered issues with the West Coast route from Europe.

Similar underwater cables, such as Seacom, Europe India Gateway (EIG), and Asia-Africa-Europe 1 (AAE1), which carry data from Europe to the East Coast of Africa, are rumored to have been severed at some point near the Red Sea, leading to a deterioration in services along these routes.

The networks of the impacted countries’ service providers have experienced disruptions in Internet access and speed in Nigeria and other West African nations.

These cables’ operators have already started fixing them, and services are being gradually brought back online.

They have pledged to work nonstop to make sure that the impacted countries’ services are restored as quickly as possible.

It is crucial to educate corporate and individual customers about these services about this information.
