NCC Facilitates MTN, Glo Interconnectivity Conflict Resolution

RE: PRE-DISCONNECTION NOTICE: Glo, MTN Resolve Interconnect Debt Dispute

The interconnect debt dispute between MTN Nigeria Communications Plc. (MTN) and Globacom Limited (Globacom) has been amicably resolved, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) is happy to announce.

The disconnection authorization that was given to MTN in order to disconnect Globacom has now been revoked in compliance with this resolution.

The Commission conducted additional regulatory intervention by mediating between the parties and assisting with the reconciliation process after issuing its first Public Notice in an effort to minimize any potential disruptions to subscribers.

The Commission stresses that all Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) and other licensees in the telecom sector must strictly adhere to the terms and conditions of their licenses, especially those outlined in interconnection agreements.

The Commission will request pertinent records and regular updates from MNOs in order to proactively address and prevent future instances of interconnect indebtedness within the industry. Additionally, the Commission will be taking a transparent stance regarding industry indebtedness.

This declaration acts as a reminder of the Commission’s dedication to supporting Nigeria’s compliant and stable telecommunications sector.
