The Kwara State Police Command has apprehended a suspected notorious kidnapper, Mohammed Bello, popularly known as “Dandolo,” following a collaborative operation with the Nigerian Army.
The arrest, announced on December 12, 2024, was facilitated by actionable intelligence received from Egbe, Kogi State, which indicated that Bello had fled to Patigi in Kwara State to evade capture.
This was contained in a statement signed and issued by DSP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the Police Public Relations Officer, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police.
According to the Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya, Bello is linked to multiple kidnapping operations in Egbe, Isanlu, and surrounding areas in Kogi State.
“He has also confessed to kidnappings along the Omu-Aran-Ilofa-Osi-Eruku-Egbe road in Kwara State and on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway,” Olaiya revealed.
The operation involved a surveillance team tracking Bello’s movements and searching several locations, including hotels in Patigi.
He was eventually apprehended at an undisclosed location and has since been handed over to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Ilorin for further investigation.
Lieutenant Isah, who leads the Nigerian Army Forward Operation Base in Egbe, played a significant role in the collaborative efforts that led to Bello’s arrest.”
The Commissioner assured the public of a comprehensive investigation to ensure justice, reiterating the Command’s commitment to the safety and security of residents.
The Police Command thanked members of the public and security partners for their cooperation. Citizens were urged to continue providing timely information to assist in combating crime.
