FG LAUNCHES NATIONAL SINGLE WINDOW TO BOOST TRADE, ECONOMIC GROWTH*

The National Single Window (NSW) Project Kickoff Workshop was officially launched in Abuja today by the Honorable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, in a historic step to support trade and economic growth in Nigeria.

By streamlining trade procedures, removing obstacles, and boosting transparency, this ground-breaking project seeks to set Nigeria up for unheard-of economic expansion.

The Honourable Minister emphasized the NSW’s transformative potential in boosting trade facilitation and spurring economic growth in Nigeria during his opening remarks at the event.

He explained that the program is a fundamental component of the federal government’s plan to enhance trade and customs procedures, lessen traffic jams, and boost openness in the country’s trading environment.

HM Edun also stated that the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) and the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), under the direction of Dr. Zacch Adedeji, Executive Chairman, have been named as the project’s implementing agencies in order to guarantee the project’s efficient execution and financial management.

He also mentioned that the FIRS will house the project Secretariat, acting as a central hub for supervision and coordination.

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) are among the other important participants in the workshop from various government agencies.

Their cooperation is essential to the successful execution of the New South Wales (NSW), an essential part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s larger economic reforms.

On Thursday, the three-day workshop will come to an end with a comprehensive action plan that outlines the project’s next steps and the dates for its complete implementation.

Nigeria stands to benefit greatly from a major increase in trade facilitation and economic growth following the establishment of the National Single Window. Important stakeholders’ cooperation and the appointment of implementing agencies demonstrate the federal government’s dedication to this important aspect of President Tinubu’s economic reforms.

Nigeria can anticipate better trade procedures, more transparency, and a more business-friendly atmosphere as the project advances, opening the door for a more promising future for the economy.
