Seven newly constructed landmark projects, including two housing estates, three schools, and a 1.2 km dual carriage way executed by Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, have been commissioned.
Nigeria’s World Bank’s representative, Dr Ndiame Diop, commissioned the two senior and one junior secondary schools; while the governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, unveiled two housing estates, a flyover bridge and a 1.2km dual carriage way.
A statement by SSA media to the Governor Abdurrahman disclosed that the schools commissioned on Tuesday comprised the 60-classroom Government Day Secondary School, Mairi; the 40-classroom Government Day Secondary School, Gala-Mairi in Muna and 20-classroom Government Girls Junior Day Secondary School, Molai, all in Jere Local Government Area of the state.
Similarly, Governor Buni also commissioned the Borno Express flyover and the Shehu Garbai Expressway along Lawan Bukar in Maiduguri, Borno State Capital.
The commissioning held on Wednesday, were two housing estates, including the one named after Vice President Kashim Shettima, a two-storey building comprising 72 units of 3-bedroom flats and another estate with 500 houses named after the governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni.
These projects were conceived to stimulate urban renewal, encourage economic development and improve residents’ quality of life in the aftermath of the over one decade long insurgency and the 2024 Maiduguri flood disaster.
