UNILORIN, UNIBADAN Students Emerge Winners of Climate Risk Research Challenge 2023

The University of Ilorin and University of Ibadan have emerged winners of the Climate Risk Research Challenge 2023, a prestigious event that recognizes innovative research and dedication to addressing climate risk and resilience in the agriculture sector.

The event, hosted by the University of Ibadan, brought together winning teams from both universities, highlighting their contributions to climate risk research. The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof. Oyebode Adebowale, praised the participants for their dedication and ingenuity.

The winning teams presented their research and proposed solutions, with the DEWSClim Innovators from the University of Ibadan taking first place with a prize of $5,000. UNILORIN TEAM A took second place with $3,500, and the APEX Team from the University of Ibadan took third place with $1,500.

The event also marked the launch of ResilientScape Africa, a joint initiative by Green Energy Mission Africa and Sustainable Solutions for Green Growth, aimed at enhancing environmental sustainability and climate resilience across African communities.

The winners expressed their appreciation for the challenge, stating that it has exposed them to the need to explore more solutions to climate change and food security. The prize money will be used for further research towards solving the impact of the climate crisis on food security in Nigeria
