CoP members, stakeholders pledge commitment to achieving ‘Project Trust’ in Kwara

Members of Community of Practice(CoP) and stakeholders in achieving trust and accountability have pledged their commitments to achieving the deliverables of the ‘Project Trust’ project in Kwara.

The members and stakeholders made the pledge on Monday at a One-Day Step-Down training for the 16 CoP members and stakeholders in Ilorin.

The CoP members were taken through the processes involved in tracking of projects which is the main objective of the programme.

Project Trust formulated by Connected Development (CODE) in 2023 seeks to deepen and institutionalise accountability, social inclusion systems and processes to promote resilience and sustainability in governance across the country.

It also aims to create an existence of accountability system between the citizens and the government.

The Lead Facilitator, Mr Kehinde Akinsola said the programme would also facilitate social inclusion systems by demanding accountability in the implementation of the Discrimination Against Persons With Disabilities (Prohibition) Act, 2018.

He said the project which is not to witch hunt government seeks for accountability and effective service delivery in Kwara.

Mr Akinsola listed the thematic areas of the project to be education, health and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH).

”As CoP members, you have to be able to grasp the Follow The Money model of tracking and monitoring projects effectively.

”You also have to identify projects to be tracked in their respective communities using budget data,” he said.

Another facilitator, Mr Abdurrahman Ayuba, took the trainees through the action plans which involves identifying the key stakeholders and strategies to be used while tracking the projects.

On her part, Mrs Nimat Labaika, equipped the participants with tips and practices on how to engage the stakeholders in the project as they determine if the purpose can be achieved.

Mr Taiwo Adediran trained the CoP members on how to avoid discrepancies while writing reports of the tracked projects.

The members were expected to track Zonal Intervention Projects (ZIP) and State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and other public projects in Kwara.
