ashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, has reaffirmed his dedication to enhancing the welfare of Customs officers throughout the federation by offering housing.

This was disclosed by the Comptroller-General of Customs on Thursday, March 7, 2024, in Kaduna during the NCS housing scheme’s flag-off ceremony at Gidan Iyali Estate, Millennium City, Kaduna.

“This ceremony is not the last episode of what we have planned,” the speaker declared. Similar projects are prepared for flag-off in Kano, Asaba, Yola, Abuja, Enugu, and Uyo. The goal of the nationwide rollout is to give officers and men in the service the chance to participate in and gain from this commendable initiative, which is not only affordable but also conveniently located.

He also recalled how the Service had kicked off a similar project with 5000 houses in Ibadan on December 18, 2023, with the intention of focusing on serving officers and NCS men.

He stated, “The initiative was deemed expedient as some of our personnel have retired from service without having a suitable home in which to begin their post-retirement new phase of life. It is hoped that this initiative will significantly contribute to ending the suffering that certain men and officers have endured in the past.

The CGC emphasized that the project was a part of President Tinubu’s encouraging initiatives to give Nigerians access to reasonably priced housing. He also praised Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna state for his unwavering support of the Nigeria Customs Service in order to ensure the success of the exercise.

“It is heartwarming to inform all officers that the service is going into an interface with Cooperative Mortgage Bank with the service ICT under the salary section to effectively manage the process of payments of the housing scheme,” the CGC said, urging officers who had expressed interest in the projects to persevere.

George Anih, the Portfolio and Assets Manager of Family Homes, addressed the assembly and stated that his company is vital to the provision of reasonably priced housing for Nigerians.

In order to provide 5000 houses for the officers and men of the Nigeria Customs Service, he pledged to work with them.

The Comptroller-General of Customs was given the assurance by Mr. Musa Abubakar, Managing Director of Cooperative Mortgage Bank, that he would make sure the project was completed successfully.
