The antigraft war against illegal foreign exchange operators are commended by Ooni of Ife.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, or EFCC, has received praise from Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, for its targeted sting operations against currency speculators and street vendors running illicit foreign exchange markets around the nation.

During a courtesy visit to his palace in Ile-Ife, Osun State, on Friday, March 1, 2024, ACE I Halima Mustafa Rufa’u, the Assistant Commander of the EFCC and Acting Zonal Commander of the EFCC, gave him the commendation.

The EFCC “swung into action promptly,” he claimed, and “the dollar came down in favor of the naira simply because the EFCC acted.” This demonstrates that the circumstance is fabricated and intentional, but it is manageable if the EFCC and other government organizations work together to confront and resolve it on a regular basis.

He declared that the EFCC “must not be discouraged from working towards sanitizing the economic space in the country as the most vibrant anti-graft agency in the country, under the leadership of the Executive Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede.”

As he thanked Rufa’u for coming, the foremost monarch of Nigeria advised the people to concentrate on expanding and strengthening the nation’s economy rather than accumulating illicit and mysterious wealth.

Rufa’u replied, “I appreciate that you came, even though you are busy.” The damage that unauthorized miners are causing and their sabotage of Osun State’s solid mineral resources intended for economic growth were both condemned by her. Consequently, she urged efficient cooperation in the fight against the miners in the state.

She also asked for the monarch’s cooperation and support in combating the epidemic of cybercrimes among university students in Osun State and throughout Nigeria.

Leading representatives from the Commission’s Ibadan Zonal Command accompanied her on the visit.
