WE ARE WORKING HARD TO ADDRESS SECURITY ISSUES IN FCT—WIKE

Council Chairmen should be warned not to abdicate their responsibilities.

The Federal Capital Territory’s (FCT) Hon. Minister, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has reassured citizens living in the nation’s capital that the FCT Administration is making every effort to address the recent security issues in the FCT.

2.     Barrister Wike who gave the assurance in Abuja on Tuesday, during an emergency security meeting with the heads of various security agencies in the FCT and the Area Council Chairmen, urged FCT residents not to panic.

He stated that the FCT Administration is also concerned about security challenges in the FCT, and that the emergency security meeting was part of the Administration’s efforts to address the issues, particularly in Bwari satellite town and other areas.

As the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is home to all Nigerians, he stated that the FCT Administration has an obligation to protect its security. He further stated that the Administration is giving the various security agencies in the FCT the support they need to address the issues.

“We are all aware of the security situation in the Federal Capital Territory, especially in Bwari and certain other areas that have experienced security challenges,” the Minister stated.

“Yes, I am aware that the media occasionally exaggerates events, but we all have a responsibility to ensure the safety of the Federal Capital Territory, which is home to almost all Nigerians.

“Nigerians living here should not panic; we will do everything in our power to ensure their safety.” We are taking every step to make sure that those challenges are things that we must have to resolve.

“This is where Nigerians live; they need not fear; we will take every precaution to keep them safe.” We are working hard to make sure that those challenges are something we have to conquer. nsibility in their different Area Councils. Area Council Chairmen were reminded by the Minister that it is their duty to ensure safety within their respective areas of influence.

The Minister stated that he has information regarding Area Council Chairmen who neglect their duties and take time off, cautioning that such behavior would not be tolerated.

Since the primary schools are under the jurisdiction of the Council Chairmen, Barrister Wike stated that the recent strike by the Nigerian Union of Teachers is a prime example of why the Council Chairmen must perform I.

The FCT Minister stated, “We will not be happy if area council chairmen abdicate their responsibilities and go out this time.” According to rumors, council chairs travel at any time and, naturally, will not call names if something bad happens. The Minister of the FCT will be called.

The NUT has started a strike as of late. We are not to blame for it. It is the Area Councils. The Area Councils are in charge of primary schools. Once more, though, it will appear as though the Ministers are doing nothing. But that is not our responsibility. However, we cannot fold our hands. We have asked them to a meeting this afternoon so we can try to figure out a solution together.

Therefore, the Council Chairmen ought to be aware that you have obligations. They will argue that the Ministers are to blame for not acting on everything that occurs.

The heads of the various security agencies in the Federal Capital Territory, as well as the Executive Secretary of the FCDA, Engineer Shehu Hadi Ahmed, the Director of the Department of Security Services, Mr. Adamu Gwary, and the FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, were present at the security meeting.
